Gholamnejad (غلام‌نژاد) is a Persian compound surname: Gholam, meaning "servant, devotee," combined with Nejad (نژ��د), meaning "lineage" or "origin." Together: of the servant's lineage. Like most Iranian family names, it was adopted during the surname registration reforms under Reza Shah in the 1920s, when all Iranians were required to choose a fixed hereditary family name.
